SEN Innovation Challenge (SIC) 2026
A movement to empower, equip, and elevate emerging innovators ready to change their world using STEM. Open to tertiary students across Ghana.
At SEN, we don't just teach STEM β we challenge young innovators to use it. SIC invites tertiary students to tackle real-world problems with real solutions.
Ghana and Africa face challenges that need locally-designed, STEM-powered solutions. Yet too often, our brightest young minds graduate with skills and no platform to apply them meaningfully.
SIC changes that. By creating a structured, mentored, multi-month program, we push tertiary students to think critically, collaborate fearlessly, and pioneer solutions that address pressing societal needs.
SIC isn't just a competition. It's a guided innovation journey.
The SEN Innovation Challenge (SIC) is the flagship competition of STEM Explorers Network. In its 2026 pilot edition, SIC invites teams of 1β4 tertiary students from universities, polytechnics, and technical institutions across Ghana to develop innovative, implementable solutions to real-world challenges facing African communities.
Teams will identify a problem relevant to their community or the broader African context β in areas such as health, agriculture, education, energy, water, or environment β and develop a STEM-based solution that is practical, scalable and rooted in local context. Solutions can be products, systems, applications, processes or service models.
We believe that Africa's most impactful solutions will come from Africans. SIC is designed to provide the platform, mentorship, and visibility that turns a student's idea into a viable solution β and that student into a confident innovator.
The 2026 edition is a pilot restricted to participants in Ghana. Lessons learned will inform the expansion of SIC to a Pan-African competition in future years, in alignment with SEN's 2031 vision.
